2.4 billion allocated to personal protective equipment for doctors – Stepanov
2.4 billion hryvnia was allocated to personal protective equipment for medical workers.
This was announced during a briefing by Minister of Health Maxim Stepanov, reports a correspondent for Ukrinform.
“The government decree contains all the data on the allocation of funds for the fight against coronaviruses. The total amount was about 3 billion hryvnias, including about 2.4 billion for personal protective equipment. These funds will go to the first wave hospitals that are designated to fight coronavirus, to emergency medical care, to our laboratory centers, to laboratory assistants working and analyzing laboratory tests. They will go to our mobile teams that go to patients with of coronavirus to perform the appropriate study, “said Stepanov.
He noted that the calculations were carried out according to the appropriate methodology used worldwide and which is recommended by WHO. And these calculations were done on the basis of one month’s stocks, so there were guarantees for one month.

According to Stepanov, the amount was determined after carrying out an appropriate price check. He also added that these funds can be saved, this will already be visible once all the necessary has been purchased. “With these funds, it will be possible to buy additional personal protective equipment. Because we know that they are not enough and that they must be bought constantly under the conditions of an epidemic,” said the minister. .
As of June 3, 24,823 cases of COVID-19 have been laboratory confirmed in Ukraine. Per day – 483 new cases.
