Today, 40 Ukrainian citizens have left the Turkish Black Sea port of Karasu for the Ukrainian Black Sea. In the Protection program, 40 other Ukrainians are currently awaiting return to their country.

Ukrainian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Turkey Andriy Sibiga said so in a comment to Ukrinform.

“As part of the protection program, which was created to assist and ensure the guardianship of our citizens, in order to help them return to their country of origin, a regular ferry service with Turkey was recorded today . Our ferry left today from the Turkish port of Karasu to Chernomorsk. From different regions of Turkey, we have delivered 40 Ukrainian citizens to the port to return to their country of origin, “said Sibiga.

According to him, in the evening before the buses left for the port of Karasu, an unforeseen problem occurred – a curfew was introduced at midnight, which required special permits.

“The consul in Ankara received the last of the necessary permits overnight, about an hour, when the departure was scheduled for two in the morning. The Turkish side has moved forward, all permits have been granted for both the vehicles and the people we transported, “said the diplomat.

In order to guarantee unhindered delivery of Ukrainian citizens to the port, it was carried out with the direct participation of heads of consular posts: the Consul General in Istanbul Alexander Aman, the Consul in Ankara Boris Yasinsky and the Consul in Antalya Vyacheslav Khomenko.

“Now we are preparing for the next ferry flight, which is tentatively scheduled for Saturday April 18. Currently, 40 more of our citizens are registered in the Zashchita system, pending their return to their country of origin. We are in contact with them, we provide assistance and we develop possible options for their return if there is a clear and firm will to do so, ”said Sibiga.

According to him, the situation remains with the Ukrainian citizens, who ended up in northern Cyprus. There are around 10. Turkey has cut off air communications with Northern Cyprus, so these citizens cannot enter Turkey. They are now in contact with diplomats and a return search is underway.
