People who lack vitamin D in the body are potentially dead if they are infected with the COVID-19 coronavirus.
This is reported by the NPF with reference to vesti-ua.net.
A sad conclusion was made by a group of five Indonesian scientists, led by Prabovo Rakharusuna, after analyzing the hospital records of 780 patients diagnosed with coronavirus disease.
They found that 98.9% of patients with vitamin D deficiency (less than 20 ng / ml) died, while in the remaining patients, the death rate was 4.1%.
In addition, they included certain ethnic groups of the population and the elderly at risk, whose bodies began to produce less vitamin D with age. In addition, vitamin deficiency, according to experts, was influenced by long-term self-isolation of people and became more vulnerable to infections.
After these studies, the scientists wish to carry out tests under control in order to check the possible effect of an additional supply of vitamin D on the treatment of patients on COVID-19.
Earlier, it was reported that the new school year for schoolchildren was about to start.
