All new detainees who have arrived in Ukrainian pre-trial detention centers are isolated for 14 days.

“According to current information, on the morning of April 26 in the western, eastern, northern and central regions, there were no suspected / infected persons with coronavirus in the prisons, namely the centers All detainees who have arrived in pre-trial detention centers are in daily isolation, “she wrote.
According to Denisova, in the context of the Chernivtsi pretrial detention center, where inmates dissatisfied with the arrival of an inmate suffering from a confirmed COVID-19 disease triggered a riot, she asked her representatives find out how many people had arrived at other remand centers in the past two days.
According to the Ombudsman, in the pre-trial detention center in Mariupol, four detainees suspected of having coronavirus are placed in isolation cells under medical supervision. In the Kropyvnytskyi pretrial detention center, a detained person is isolated in a medical unit suspected of coronavirus, the results of tests for COVID-19 are awaited.
In the Odessa pretrial detention center, Denisova noted, 103 COVID-19 tests were carried out for facility staff and 46 for detainees, results expected on April 28.

The Commissioner also reported that on 24 April, a person whose state of health was not satisfactory had been taken to penitentiary establishment No. 19 in Lviv. He was sent to an infectious disease hospital and tested for coronavirus, which showed a negative result. “The person is now quarantined in a separate building. He is under surveillance,” added the Ombudsman.
Regarding the situation at the Chernivtsi pretrial detention center, according to Denisova, on the morning of April 26, it was calm and manageable, the number of patients has not increased.

“I stress that the socio-psychological climate in the pre-trial detention center in all regions of Ukraine is satisfactory. I keep the epidemic situation in all the penal institutions under my personal control,” said the Ombudsman.
As Ukrinform reported, on the night of April 24 to 25 at the Chernivtsi pretrial detention center, prisoners rioted because of the arrival of a prisoner with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19.
