An action in support of activist Sternenko takes place near the walls of the SBU
An action in favor of activist Sergei Sternenko, who, according to the activist himself, should be called into question today, runs near the walls of the main investigation service of the SBU.
This was reported by the Ukrinform correspondent.
Near the administration of Askold Lane, there are now more than a hundred people, people are constantly arriving. Near the SBU administration, more than 30 law enforcement officers are on duty.
As noted by the organizers of the rally the day before, the aim of the demonstration is to express support for Sergei Sternenko, because “in place of Sergei, there may be someone who does not want to give his life and his health on a contractual basis “.
The vast majority of the demonstrators wear protective masks, there were no posters and flags of political symbols during the event.
As Ukrinform reported on May 14, activist Sergei Sternenko announced that he would be called to the SBU on Monday May 18 to report his suspicions.
Sternenko clarified that the SBU investigator in the appeal does not indicate for what type of investigative and procedural actions he is called.
Earlier, the WBC fan club movement Ultras Dynamo issued a statement supporting Sternenko and warned of a mobilization due to the possible detention of the former head of the right sector of Odessa.

On May 6, six other Ukrainian supporter movements released their statements on the situation surrounding Sternenko’s possible conclusion: Ultras from Volyn, Zaporizhzhya Metallurg and others. The same day, in 9 cities of Ukraine, the rally “Hands off Sternenko – I have the right to defense” took place.
As reported, on the evening of May 24, 2018, two assailants attacked Sternenko, 23, and his girlfriend. Repelling the attackers, he fatally wounded one of them with a knife in the stomach. Sternenko himself and the second attacker, who were quickly arrested by the police and immediately released, were stabbed, given witness status and, later, state protection.
According to the facts of the attacks on Sternenko, a procedural guide for three criminal proceedings is currently in progress; another indictment against the alleged assailant was sent to court.
In March 2020, a number of human rights organizations and public organizations called on law enforcement to investigate impartially a criminal case involving an attack on a public activist.
Earlier, Attorney General Irina Venediktova said the investigation would suspect the activist anyway.
