The exhibition of works by nineteenth and twentieth century artists from the private collection of the Poroshenko family was not previously planned at the Ivan Gonchar museum, but was placed at the request of the fifth president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

But at the request of Petro Poroshenko, to present his private collection of works by artists of the XIX-XX centuries, which he collected in order to restore to Ukraine the objects of art of national and world artists, the museum had the opportunity to provide a room for the exhibition within one month. says the message.

As indicated, the exhibition will be open to visitors from June 10 to 25. It is free for everyone.

“Entrance to the exhibition is free, given the restrictions established as part of measures to combat coronavirus disease COVID-19,” said museum employees.

They also added that the museum has a very large audience, mainly interested in the cultural heritage of our State. Therefore, outrageous situations should not be a catalyst for the public interest in the museum’s direct activities.

The press service also recalled that the National Center for Popular Culture “Ivan Gonchar Museum” has been preparing a complete reconstruction since 2018. All the exhibition halls were closed after the flood of February 13, 2018, there are only one concert and exhibition hall.

“According to the preliminary plan, in 2020, the reconstruction of the museum was to begin. All events, including annual projects, for this year have been canceled. The issue of approving the reconstruction project and allocating funds for repairs due to quarantine measures was further delayed. As part of the next postponement of repair times, we have the possibility of receiving visitors for several months ”, explained Ivan Gonchar to the Museum.

As reported, on the morning of May 26 at the Ivan Gonchar Museum of the NSCC, the fifth president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, presented to journalists an exhibition of paintings from the family collection.

At the same time, Poroshenko was summoned to the State Bureau of Investigation at 11 a.m. as a witness in the criminal proceedings concerning the circumstances of the case of the illegal transfer of cultural property across the border, namely the concealment of the customs control of a collection of 43 paintings by world famous artists.

Subsequently, representatives of GBR arrived at the museum. Security forces broke the doors and broke into the room. According to museum director Pyotr Gonchar, law enforcement officials did not show any documents or search permits.

On leaving the museum, representatives of the State Rescue Bureau seized the originals of the customs declarations for 43 paintings presented at the exhibition, their list and the payment orders for payment made from Poroshenko’s personal account after all taxes have been paid to the state.

On the evening of May 26, the State Security Bureau announced that their employees had arrived at the Potter Museum to deliver the summons to Petro Poroshenko and to conduct investigations.
