During the quarantine, the transition from the parishes of the Church to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church stopped.
This was announced by the head of PCU Epiphanius in an interview with Radio Liberty.
According to Metropolitan Epiphanes, the UCP has more than 7,000 parishes throughout Ukraine, but so far this number has not increased due to the quarantine restrictions associated with the coronavirus pandemic.
“Now we are trying to do everything so that there is no crowd. There will be no transition for quarantine, no assemblies. Because for the community to be determined, a general assembly of the parish must be held, ”explained the primate.
However, it does not undertake to predict how the dynamics of transitions to the PTsU after quarantine may change, during which the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate did not cancel mass services, unlike at the PTsU.
“I think our fellow citizens, our wise sages, will all analyze what is going on now and make the appropriate decisions,” said Epifaniy.
As indicated, the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, newly formed on December 15, 2018 in the Unification Council, received on January 6, 2019 from the ecumenical patriarch Bartholomew and the holy synod of the ecumenical patriarchate Tomos about autocephaly.
