Active construction of the Babi Yar State Museum continues; it is scheduled to open in 2021.
This was said at a round table by the president of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory Anton Drobovich, reports a correspondent for Ukrinform.
“Now the most successful project that has been implemented in the Babi Yar region is the” Babi Yar “national reserve. It was established by the state in 2007, then received national status … Gradually, the state has commemorated this space as best as possible. There is still no Babi Yar museum. But if all goes well, it will finally appear in 2021. The museum is currently under active construction “, a said Drobovich.
He said he had visited the construction site a month and a half ago and that “this is a big step forward”. “It will be a good little museum! The main thing is that the State fulfills its obligations and invests it as it should. Because the funds are provided, the main thing is that they are allocated and that the museum is completed. “said the head of the UIPS.

He added that the Babi Yar space itself is still not properly commemorated for various reasons. Society knows almost nothing about the national project – the Babiy Yar reserve.
“And it’s a big task for the state – to build a museum, which will become a place where everyone can join, and which will show the state’s capacity to finally commemorate – at least in an institutional way appropriate – Babi Yar, “said Drobovich.
