The BP Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy held an on-site meeting on May 20 at the Kiev studio for documentary films “Ukrkinohronika” and at the state enterprise “National Cinema of Ukraine”.
The meeting was a reaction to the cultural community’s call regarding the plight of the possible bankruptcy of these companies.
This was noted at the meeting, reports the Ukrinform correspondent.
“The Committee is concerned about the situation at the Kiev studio of documentary films” Ukrkinochronika “and HE” National Cinema of Ukraine “, in particular with regard to the fact that their activities are less and less like those of film studios and increasingly to those of new residential building sites. We are also concerned about the state of play in preserving the cinema fund, “said Committee Chair Alexander Tkachenko.

As noted by the chairman of the film and advertising subcommittee Pavel Sushko, the BP committee previously considered an appeal from the cultural community, which gives reason to believe that by disposing of the property of the state for further commercial development, the destruction of the national cultural heritage of our state, on the basis of which the State Film Fund of Ukraine.
“Ukrkinohronik Studio” owns a huge documentary archive, which dates back to the 1930s and contains many unique historical films. According to the information provided to us, part of the cinematographic archives has not yet been systematized and recorded and stored correctly and is located in different places on the territory of the company. There is a real threat of irreversible loss of a single film archive, ”said Sushko.

He added that, to repay current debts amounting to several million hryvnia, Ukrkinochronika, without the knowledge and without the approval of the governing body, concluded an investment agreement with the PJSC Zodcha Diadem.
“The contract does not contain clear and complete conditions for such an investment. Instead, graphical presentations are distributed at various meetings and meetings which, as a result of such investment cooperation, the investor will own a housing and office complex in the territory of a state enterprise, and the state enterprise will receive debt repayment and reconstruction of its main building. Where necessary, such cooperation between a public enterprise and a private entity is legally and economically justified, it is an open question, “said Sushko.
