The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine at an extraordinary meeting decided to allocate 6 billion UAH for the payment of unemployment benefits and approved the procedure for using these funds.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture.
“At a special government meeting, a resolution was adopted” on the allocation of funds to provide financial assistance to the Compulsory Social Insurance Fund of Ukraine in the event of unemployment. “Therefore, the Fund received 6 billion UAH, and the procedure for using these funds has been approved,” said the press release.
As indicated, out of the allocated funds, 1.277 billion UAH will be allocated to unemployment benefits, including increasing the minimum unemployment benefit from 650 UAH to 1000 UAH; assisting licensees of their own free will from one day, not 91 days, as was the case previously; for payment to all the unemployed from the 1st, but not from the 7th day of registration, as was the case before.
In addition, 4.723 billion UAH were allocated to partial unemployment benefits. Including payments to small and medium-sized enterprises for the quarantine period to cover the costs of wages of workers who reduced working hours.

“The adopted resolution, which has allocated 6 billion UAH, will help us achieve our two key objectives. The first is to provide real assistance to people who, unfortunately, have already lost their jobs. And the second is to help employers to pay the wages of their employees and thereby prevent layoffs, save jobs, “said Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture Igor Petrashko.
As Ukrinform reported, since March 12, 2020, quarantine has been introduced in Ukraine as part of the fight against the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus infection.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, on March 25, 2020, introduced an emergency regime throughout the country. By decision of the government, the quarantine was extended until May 11.
Educational and business establishments are closed in quarantine in Ukraine, with the exception of grocery stores, pharmacies, gas stations and banks. The works of the Kiev, Kharkov and Dnipro metros were stopped, the interurban and interregional bus, rail and air services were stopped.

In April, Ukraine increased to 1,000 UAH (compared to 650 UAH) the minimum unemployment assistance, which is paid without taking into account wages and seniority. Those who have already received it in the amount of 650 UAH will be recalculated. Such a decision was approved by a resolution of the board of directors of the Compulsory National Social Insurance Fund of Ukraine, which entered into force on April 18, 2020.
Also on April 18, a law entered into force on amendments to the Ukrainian law on the Ukrainian state budget for 2020. In particular, the document determines that for the quarantine period for people who quit their jobs from their On its own, there will be no obligation to postpone the payment of unemployment benefits for a maximum of 90 days. At the same time, the total duration of unemployment benefits for these people cannot exceed 270 calendar days.
