Cabinet of Ministers Establishes Order for Disposal of Confiscated Animals
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a draft resolution, which introduces the order of elimination of confiscated animals for humane treatment of animals.
The corresponding decision was taken at a government meeting on Thursday, June 25, without discussion, reports a correspondent for Ukrinform.
In particular, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a draft resolution “On the modification of the procedure for the disposal of property confiscated by court decision and transferred to the executive service of the State”.
The explanatory note to the draft resolution indicates that the document was prepared with the aim of establishing the order of elimination of confiscated animals.
According to the document, in order to adopt a human attitude towards animals, protect animals from cruel treatment, promote their welfare, improve the quality of their lives, the draft resolution proposes to provide for free transfer of confiscated animals to institutions, shelters, which, by law, have the right to keep them.

As previously reported, a number of media outlets have reported that the Department of Justice was selling purebred dogs for debt on the website of the Electronic Asset Exchange with Seizure (CETAM) website.
As Justice Minister Denis Malyuka explained, the Department of Justice must take animals from their owners in order to comply with court decisions.
At the same time, Deputy Minister of Justice Valeria Kolomiets noted that the Ministry of Justice has developed and amended legislation that would make it impossible to sell more animals through tenders.
