The existence of an investigation into the allegations of parishioners of the Kiev Patriarchate of the UOC into the illegal actions of a number of senior officials who committed acts intended to incite sectarian strife during the establishment of the CCP , hinders the international recognition of the church.

This is stated in the statement of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

“The fact that such an” investigation “has been officially opened and is still ongoing (more than eight months) can be assessed by the Metropolitan of Kiev of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine as an example of the use by opponents of the independence of the UOC from the Ukrainian legal system, police and judicial authorities to prevent the development of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the process of its international recognition, the freedom of expression of religious communities, “the statement said.

It should be noted that this “investigation” is part of a number of similar declarations and actions taken over the past year and a half to persecute the clergy and active parishioners of the UCP, in order to put pressure on bona fide representatives of local authorities and self-government.

“It is particularly shameful and cynical to use the name and authority of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Patriarchate of Kiev in the current campaign, which, by the decision of its local council on December 15, 2018, ceased its separate existence as a religious association, creating, with other branches of Ukrainian orthodoxy, a single local Orthodox church in Ukraine. to recall that the UOC-KPI (UOC) is the only successor to the UOC-KP and the UAOC which have united, and those who are trying to act more on behalf of the UOC-KP as the so-called separate religious association has no canonical or legal right to do so, “noted in the document.

The UCP notes that the State is bound by law to respect the traditions and internal attitudes of religious organizations, not to interfere with the activities of religious organizations carried out under the law.

As reported, former President Petro Poroshenko on Thursday near the Pechersky District Court said that another criminal proceeding had been opened against him – concerning the incitement of religious hatred by obtaining Tomos from Ukraine.

Subsequently, the National Bureau of Investigation confirmed that it was investigating the case of possible illegal actions by senior officials who allegedly committed acts intended to incite sectarian unrest during the creation of the CCP.
