Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Oleg Nemchinov estimates that in 2021 the census of the Ukrainian population will probably not take place.
He said so in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
“The census must be carried out, but it is expensive. The budget request presented by the National Statistics Service seems to be 5.8 billion UAH. We have the entire coronavirus stabilization fund – 65 billion. C “is a very serious political decision and it is a process which must be launched in advance.” For example, if we wanted to conduct a census in 2021, then in March 2020, we had to start preparing, “said Nemchinov.
Regarding the clarification of the question of whether the census will be carried out in 2021, the Minister noted that probably not. “I don’t think so. You can try to do it at the end of the year, but this year you have to start spending money at least from September to October. As the head of the National Service explained to me statistics, it takes at least a year and three months to go through the whole cycle. it has to be done, “he added.
According to Nemchinov, the management of the National Statistics Service has three scenarios: a version of the classic census, surveys and a handset.
“I’m more impressed with the handset. Here we’re talking about the fact that with the maximum use of electronic media, with the maximum use of digital technology, but at the same time with a round of work, with real things . But even a purely digital census is a lot of money. ” – said the official.
