The Pechersky District Court adjourned the hearing on the modification of the restraint measure imposed on the doctor and volunteer Yulia Kuzmenko, suspected of the murder of the journalist Pavel Sheremet, on June 4.

This was commented on at Ukrinform by his defender Taras Bezpalyi.

“Our meeting did not take place again on the occasion of the third absence of the prosecutor. Postponed to June 4, but in fact we asked to reconsider the decision, which is valid until tomorrow. As a result, tomorrow’s decision is losing its strength, and we have nothing to review, “said the defender.

Responding to a question, Bezpalyi noted that the June 4 meeting “makes no sense, because tomorrow the decision is no longer valid and that’s it, we have nowhere else to go.”

As reported, on May 22, the Kiev Pechersk court postponed consideration of the request to vary the preventive measure of the suspect Yulia Kuzmenko due to the non-appearance of the prosecutor.

On May 27, the court adjourned the hearing to consider Kouzmenko’s request to vary the preventive measure until May 29 due to the non-appearance of the prosecutor.

Home Affairs Minister Arsen Avakov announced on December 12, 2019, the detention and reporting of suspicions to the accused in the case of the Sheremet murder.

The investigation suspects the doctor and volunteer Yulia Kuzmenko, the nurse of one of the paratrooper battalions Yana Dugar and the ATO veteran Andrei Antonenko.

Kuzmenko and Antonenko are now in prison.

On May 25, the Pechersk court in Kiev granted the request of the prosecutors and changed the preventive measure of Yana Dugar, suspected in the murder of the journalist Pavel Sheremet, of a house arrest for a bail of 168,000 hryvnia.

Subsequently, lawyer Dugar Vitaliy Kolomiets reported that more than 500 people had transferred the amount necessary to deposit for Dugar in less than a day.

Journalist Pavel Sheremet died on July 20, 2016 in Kiev following a car explosion.
