The death rate from COVID-19 in Ukraine is 2.6%.

Health Minister Maxim Stepanov said this at an information meeting on June 26, reports a correspondent for Ukrinform.

“The mortality rate (from COVID-19 – ed.) Is 2.6%. If we look at the mortality rate, for example, in Germany it is 4%, in the USA – 5%, in France – 18% in Spain – 9.5%. We have 2.6%. This is due to the work of our medical workers, “said Stepanov.

The Minister pointed out that during the COVID-19 pandemic in Ukraine, much was done to fight the disease. In particular, increase the number of tests and strengthen the laboratories. Thus, according to Stepanov, in early April, up to 300 tests were carried out per day by PCR, this figure is now close to 14,000. As of June 26, 27,154 tests have been carried out, including 13,916 by PCR and 13 238 ELISA.

The head of the Ministry of Health also recalled that the standards of treatment and medical care for COVID-19 had been introduced.

However, according to Stepanov, the number of hospitalized patients is increasing – up to 200 people per day, in the Transcarpathian and Chernivtsi regions, the number of beds in hospitals providing medical care to patients with COVID-19 is greater than 50%.

To avoid overloading the medical system, it is necessary to follow simple recommendations – wear a mask in transport, public places, supermarkets, shopping centers and with a large crowd, use antiseptics and maintain social distance. This reduces the risk of infection and, therefore, the risk of going to the hospital.
