During surveillance of the global network, the cyber police blocked 157 fraudulent Internet links and revealed 267 acts of propagation of counterfeits linked to coronaviruses.

“When monitoring the global network, the cyber police revealed 267 facts about false or provocative information about the coronavirus pandemic being published on the news media. Today, 152 people who have disseminated this information have already been identified. Cyber ​​police also verified 483 reports regarding the commission of possible illegal actions, including online fraud associated with the coronavirus. According to the results, 41 criminal proceedings have been opened, “said the report.

In addition, 157 Internet links used by scammers to “profit” from a pandemic were blocked.

For example, police officers from the Kharkov region, as well as police investigators, under the procedural direction of the Kharkov region prosecutor’s office, denounced a previously convicted 28-year-old man who took possession of the money of the Kharkov region. citizens on the pretext of selling personal protective equipment. A man placed an ad for the sale of medical masks and disinfectants on classified sites. The delivery of the goods was only promised on the basis of a prepayment. After receiving funds from the victims, he did not answer the phone and changed the phone number in the ad. Law enforcement officials searched the person’s place of residence. Currently, a man has been informed of a suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The question of the election of a preventive measure to the person concerned is being decided.
