During the quarantine in Ukraine registered 166 thousand unemployed
The National Employment Center has registered 166,000 new unemployed since the start of the quarantine.
This was announced during a briefing by the deputy director of the National Employment Center Yulia Zhovtyak, reports a correspondent from Ukrinform.
“For the quarantine period, we have registered 166,000 new unemployed people,” said Zhovtyak.
The leaders in the number of new unemployed are the regions of Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkov and Lviv. Since the start of quarantine, unemployment benefits amounting to 2.3 billion UAH have been paid, 40% more than last year.
Zhovtyak also said that the utility has already received 3,000 claims for partial unemployment in the small and medium-sized business sector.

“The program is working, we have already received almost 3,000 packages of documents. Decisions have been made to allocate aid to nearly 2,500 people. Funding will start in the coming days. The amount of the benefit represents both third of the employee’s salary, but not more than the minimum wage – 4723 UAH, “Zhovtyak said.
She recalled that the Public Employment Service had allocated a compulsory social insurance fund for unemployment in the amount of UA 6 billion from the Stabilization Fund.
“These funds amounting to 1.3 billion UAH go to financial aid in the form of unemployment benefits, and 4.7 billion UAH – a program to help small and medium-sized enterprises suffering from a partial unemployment, “said Zhovtyak.

According to her, the website of the National Employment Service has published information on how to use the program.
“The program is valid for the quarantine period plus 30 days after its end. Employers submit documents to employment centers that work remotely within 30 calendar days after the cessation or reduction of their activity. The decision is made within three days, then an agreement is reached within three days, “- said Zhovtyak.
As reported, since March 12, the government has introduced quarantine in Ukraine to combat the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus infection. In particular, commercial establishments were closed, with the exception of grocery stores, pharmacies, petrol stations and banks. Work suspended in the Kiev, Kharkov and Dnipro metros, land transport in cities, interurban and interregional automobile, rail and air services has been halted.

On May 4, the Cabinet of Ministers extended the quarantine, but as of May 11, the restrictions will be relaxed.
