Each case of COVID-19 among doctors should be considered an occupational disease – Lyashko
The heads of health establishments often neglect the obligation to report to the National Labor Service doctors infected with the coronavirus.
The Deputy Minister of Health, the state’s chief medical officer of health, Viktor Lyashko, wrote about it on his Facebook page.
“Each case of COVID-19 among healthcare professionals should be considered an occupational disease!” We have paid attention to this many times and we have talked to the heads of health establishments. Illness cases must be reported to the National Labor Service, which investigates each of these cases. Unfortunately, the heads of health facilities overlook this, ”said Lyashko.

According to him, of the more than 3,000 cases of COVID-19 disease among medical personnel, only about one in two illnesses is currently reported.
“To date, the investigation has only been completed in 10 cases. In 7 of them, a link was established between professional activity and illness, ”writes the Chief Medical Officer of Health.
Lyashko stressed that it was impossible to turn a blind eye to such a situation, because doctors should not suffer because of bureaucratic procedures.
As reported, as of May 15, 17,330 cases of COVID-19 had been laboratory confirmed in Ukraine. Among those infected – 1,220 children and 3,420 health workers.
