In Ukraine, they will launch tests for coronavirus infection by ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay), which will cover more people.
This was broadcast on Ukrainian radio by the Deputy Minister of Health, Chief Medical Officer of Health Viktor Lyashko.
“The assay for enzyme-linked immunosorbents will greatly expand testing in Ukraine because ELISA testing is much more affordable – unlike PCR testing. And that means expanding the groups that need to be tested,” said Lyashko.
According to him, the number of devices on which PCR tests can be performed will also be increased.
“We are often accused of Ukraine doing very little testing. Of course, we don’t test as much as Germany or the United States … But in February, we could test 200-500 samples, now we can test 10,000 samples per day, “said the chief doctor.

He pointed out that today in Ukraine 7 to 8,000 samples are tested by PCR.
“On the weekends we test 5,000 each, people don’t apply and wait until Monday. I would like to call the family doctor and an ambulance when symptoms appear on the weekends,” added Lyashko.
As reported, as of May 13, 16,425 cases of COVID-19 had been laboratory confirmed in Ukraine, of which 439 were fatal, 3,716 patients have recovered.
