Evacuation of Ukrainians from abroad: the president announces that there will be four flights a day

President Vladimir Zelensky announced the resumption of the evacuation of Ukrainians from abroad by special flights. Up to four such flights will be operated per day.

He said so in a video message.

“We are resuming their evacuation (of Ukrainians abroad – note) by special flights. It will be carried out gradually and in a controlled manner, in the form of a maximum of four planes per day,” said Zelensky.

According to him, all passengers returning to Ukraine will be divided into two groups.

The president said that the first group is the majority, who owns smartphones and will be able to undergo compulsory self-isolation in their homes, thanks to the mobile application “House of Dooms”.

He said the mobile app will help doctors and the police control the process.

At the same time, the Head of State added that the rest of the citizens – about 10% who do not have a smartphone – will be observed in the classic format – that is, in places prepared by the ‘State.

As reported by Ukrinform, on April 26, the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure announced the resumption of special flights to Ukraine from around the world. Flights are planned from Miami, Helsinki, Naples, Stockholm, Yerevan, Paris, Nice, Sofia, Larnaca, Tel Aviv, Amsterdam, Düsseldorf, Zurich, Lisbon, Geneva, Dubai, Frankfurt, Prague, Milan, Toronto, Oslo, Alicante, Er Riyad, Bangkok, Phuket, Bali.

Since March 12, the government has introduced quarantine in Ukraine to fight the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus infection. In particular, commercial establishments were closed, with the exception of grocery stores, pharmacies, petrol stations and banks. Work suspended in the Kiev, Kharkov and Dnipro metros, land transport in cities, interurban and interregional automobile, rail and air services has been halted.

Quarantine is extended until May 11 inclusive.

Since March 28, Ukraine has completely closed the border for scheduled flights, including aviation. Since April 7, it is prohibited to cross the border on foot. You can only enter the territory of Ukraine by car. 19 checkpoints are open for the crossing.

Since March 24, the acceptance and departure of aircraft carrying passenger traffic is prohibited at all airports except Boryspil.
