Former deputy head of emergency ministry to be tried for millions of embezzlement
The former deputy minister of emergency situations will appear in court for embezzlement of more than 20 million UAH.
This was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigations.
“The indictment against the former deputy minister of the Ministry of Emergencies has been sent to the court. The ex-official is accused of abuse of power or of official position, which has resulted in serious consequences”, indicates the press release.

The investigation established that in 2004, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the construction company had concluded an agreement on the construction of a residential building on land belonging to the ministry. According to the contract, 3420 square meters. m of living space in the specified house were to be transferred to the property of the Ministry.
“However, in 2010, the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Emergencies concluded an additional agreement under which the Ministry abandoned the living space in Kiev in exchange for a similar living space in a house located in the city of “Irpen in the Kiev region,” said the RSD.

According to the examination documents, the cost of apartments that the ministry actually received in the Kiev region is 23.7 million UAH lower than the cost of apartments that the ministry should have received in the city of Kiev.
Thus, in the event of proof of guilt, the accused faces a prison sentence of 3 to 6 years with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or to exercise certain activities up to 3 years, with a fine of 500 to 1,000 minimum income tax-exempt for citizens.
