Hard quarantine in Italy has worked, and restrictions in Ukraine are justified - doctor

The strict quarantine rules introduced in Italy have worked, and the restrictions imposed by the Ukrainian government are therefore appropriate.

This was stated in an interview with the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs by the head of the hospital of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kiev region, Yuri Sak, who, within the Ukrainian delegation, provides assistance to doctors in Italy.

“When we arrived, we didn’t see almost a single person on the street, because strict quarantine rules were introduced. When we left the hotel where we live, the police arrested us several times, and we explained that we were doctors from Ukraine, and only after that we were either escorted or released. I want to note that the strict quarantine rules introduced in Italy have worked, “he said. .

In this regard, Sak noted that all quarantine measures in Ukraine were justified. “I would like to tell our compatriots that all quarantine measures are justified. In Italy, unfortunately, they were late, which allowed the virus to spread very quickly and caused great losses. Therefore, all that is done with us is done correctly “, – said the head of the hospital of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kiev region.

He explained that the Ukrainian doctors who arrived in Italy were divided into 2 groups of 10 people and sent to the Marche province: one group works in the city of Pesaro, the second in Urbino. According to Saka, it is in this province that the largest number of infected and deceased patients is found.

“The work day begins from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., this is the first shift. The second shift from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. There are also night shifts – 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. night, only nurses. We go from morning to lunch, after lunch, we go to the hospital, “said a Ukrainian specialist.

According to him, the hospital in which their group works was initially determined to receive and treat exclusively patients with coronavirus. “Here, they immediately diagnose the absence or presence of coronavirus, then determine what to do with these patients: leave them here if the test for coronavirus is positive, or go to another hospital if it is negative,” a said the doctor, adding that most of the patients – they are elderly.

According to Saka, Italian doctors warmly welcomed Ukrainian colleagues. “They explain to us how the diagnosis and treatment of these patients are done. We familiarize ourselves with the treatment protocols and the drugs used. We are authorized to be present during surgical operations … All protocols, all treatment regimens that they use, they get passed on to us. They understand, why are we here and why are we doing this, then everything is open, “he said.

Sak said their group lived in a hotel, a 15-minute walk from the hospital: “This hotel was only open for us, we live one at a time. Food is brought into the room to prevent the spread of infection. “

Ukrainian doctors brought with them a coveralls, personal protective equipment provided by the Ministry of the Interior. “We bring it all to the hospital, we put hospital clothes in a separate room and we put our clothes on from above,” said the doctor.

As reported, on April 4, 20 Ukrainian doctors arrived in Italy, who began a humanitarian mission in the Marche province.
