Health ministry proposes to raise doctors’ salaries by 50% since July
The head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Health, Maxim Stepanov, said that the increase in the salary of medical personnel, in particular, will affect the quality of medical care for patients.
He said this during a briefing on Saturday, reports a correspondent for Ukrinform.
“If we are talking about increasing salaries (for doctors – note), we are talking about the fact that we have health workers, our doctors, if you look at the size of their salaries that they have received for almost 30 years independence of our country, so it seems like they are doing some kind of experiment on them, they are laughing and wondering if they will survive with this salary or not. Therefore, I think that one of the main elements that we have to do is to increase their wages. I think it is important, I think it is necessary that the salary increase, in particular, affects the quality of medical care for our patients, “said Stepanov.
He recalled that previous calculations had been made regarding the fact that to increase salaries, doctors needed around 11 billion UAH more, as of July 1.

“Now we will calculate more carefully, down to each figure, and we will submit the appropriate proposal to modify the state budget so that we can increase the salary up to 50% to our health workers from July 1 “said Stepanov.
As you know, in Ukraine, on April 1, the second stage of medical reform began. They stipulate that health care facilities providing specialized (city, district hospitals) and highly specialized (hospitals and regional hospitals) medical care will receive funding under an agreement with the NHA.
