More than half of Ukrainians believe that events in the country are going in the wrong direction.

Witness a sociological survey conducted by the Socis Center.

“More than half (56.1%) of the population thinks that the events in Ukraine are going in the wrong direction. There is a tendency to attribute more responsibility to the socio-economic situation of the country to the president than to the government “, the statement said.

According to a study carried out in May, 28.6% of the population has primary responsibility for the president and 21.9% for the government. In March, the corresponding indicators were 31.4% (president) and 35.5% (government).

Vladimir Zelensky remains a politician with the most positive attitude of the population (41.4% of those questioned treat him very positively or positively) and with the highest electoral mark (30.4% in the first round) . Compared to December of last year, its electoral indicator dropped by almost 17% (in December 2019 amounted to 47.2%).

Its main competitors are Petro Poroshenko (11.2%) and Yuriy Boyko (10.7%). At the same time, the electoral scores of these politicians have gradually increased since December of last year (in December, the scores of Petro Poroshenko – 9.2% and Yuriy Boyko – 8.7%).

In third position are Yulia Tymoshenko and Igor Smeshko, whose electoral indicators in May were 5.5% and 4.4%.

A similar situation is observed among political parties. Thus, in the “Servant of the People” party, the highest electoral rating (25%), in second position: “Opposition platform – For life” (12.0%) and “European Solidarity” (11, 4%). Compared to last fall, the rating of the “Servant of the People” party decreased by almost 20% (in October 2019, the electoral indicator of this party was 44.0%). The first year of the presidency of Vladimir Zelensky is estimated in a rather critical way by the population. Thus, compared to a survey carried out in September of last year, negative feelings have considerably increased: disappointment (from 7% to 28.8%), despair (from 2.8% to 6.2%), apathy (from 1.9% to 3.7%).

As a result, the positive feelings have diminished. For example, the level of hope decreased by 17% (from 45.5% in September of last year to 28.5% in May of this year). The proportion of respondents who believe that voters made the wrong choice when voting for Vladimir Zelensky has doubled (from 14.2% to 29.2%).

Most of those interviewed believe that Vladimir Zelensky has had more failures than victories in the presidency. Since September, the number of these respondents has almost tripled (from 13.9% to 37.9%).

On a five-point scale, the respect by Vladimir Zelensky of his electoral promises is mainly evaluated at “1” (“not at all kept”).

To fulfill the key functions of the President, respondents also gave such ratings: for fulfilling the functions of Commander-in-Chief, the average value is 2.5 and for the representation of Ukraine on the international scene, the average value is 2.8.

Despite a critical assessment of the first year in office, half of the population (51.3%) believes that the presidency of Vladimir Zelensky will be successful for the country. Admittedly, the number of these optimists has decreased by almost a quarter since last September (in September, it was 74.7%).
