In the Kharkiv region, entrepreneurs sold more than 300,000 medical masks to a foreigner at a price slightly above 1 hryvnia per share, while the market price of this lot is nearly 61 million hryvnia.

“Operational officers from the Eastern Regional Directorate of the National Border Service of Ukraine have been informed of the possible illegal sale of medical masks and respirators of Ukrainian origin. In February-March, much-needed protective equipment was exported from Ukraine to Spain and China. Workers at two companies in Kharkiv have been found to be suspected of fraud and tax evasion on a particularly large scale. At a lower price, they sold a Chinese citizen to export more than 300,000 respiratory protective equipment, “said the report.

The court authorized the searches, which took place at eight sites in the regions of Kiev, Kharkov and Poltava. In the warehouses and production facilities, offices and actual places of residence of the accused, law enforcement officials found and seized financial and business documents, electronic storage media indicating purchase and sale subsequent medical masks, draft notes, mobile terminals, bank cards, laptops, USB sticks, respiratory mask samples, cash in the amount of 243 thousand US dollars and 14,500 euros.

Investigation and operational actions are underway.
As noted, the Cabinet of Ministers banned the export of medical masks and other protective equipment in early March due to increasing demand from Ukrainians for the coronavirus.
