In Ukraine, 80% of deaths from COVID-19 were linked to concomitant diseases - Lyashko

In Ukraine, 80% of people who died from coronaviruses suffered from concomitant illnesses, in particular cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus and neoplasms.

This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Health – chief medical officer of health Viktor Lyashko during a briefing on Saturday April 11, according to a correspondent for Ukrinform.

“In the age structure of the deceased, we are dominated by women – 56.2%, as well as by those aged 50 and over. They represent 86.3% of all deaths. Almost all of the dead – 80% – suffered from concomitant cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, neoplasms, kidney and lung disease, “said Lyashko.

According to him, the incidence rate of COVID-19 in Ukraine per 100,000 people is 6.0% and the mortality rate is 2.9%.

As reported, according to the Ministry of Health, in Ukraine on the morning of April 11, 2511 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19. 73 patients died, 79 patients recovered. 308 new cases of coronavirus were recorded per day.
