Increased quarantine will not solve the problem of the epidemic - expert

Strict long-term quarantine cannot be a way of fighting the coronavirus epidemic.

On this subject during an online discussion organized by PEN Ukraine, said the entrepreneur, teacher of the Kiev-Mohyla business school, co-founder of the platform “New Country” Valery Pekar, correspondent of Ukrinform.

“It seems to me that our leaders believe that quarantine in itself, isolation in itself, can significantly combat the epidemic. But quarantine is not a way to fight the epidemic. Quarantine is a way of saving time to organize the fight against the epidemic, ”explained Pekar.

According to him, there are several very important ways to fight the epidemic.

First, a reasonable mass test, that is, the identification of all foci of the disease with subsequent isolation and elimination.

“The second is the work of the Public Health Service, which today is practically devoid of laboratories which must carry out this work. And the State is not able to fulfill half of the tasks it must fulfill in the fight against the epidemic, ”underlined the expert.
