On Remembrance and Reconciliation Day, May 8 and the 75th anniversary of the victory over Nazism in World War II, the Ukrainian Institute of Remembrance begins the indefinite action “Ukrainian Family History of the War”.

This was reported on the Winp website.

“The Second World War did not bypass a single Ukrainian family. Over 7 million Ukrainians have joined the Red Army to defend their loved ones and their homes. 25,000 soldiers of Ukrainian origin fought in the Allied armies and over 100,000 soldiers in the Ukrainian rebel army. The Ukrainians made a significant contribution to the global victory over Nazism, which would have been impossible without the invincibility and human dignity of hundreds of thousands of ordinary people. Behind each of the above figures hides the fate of specific people. Without their stories, our memory of World War II will not be holistic, ”noted the rally organizers.

They encouraged everyone to share family stories related to the events of the Second World War.

“To join the action – post your story on any social network under the hashtag # RodinnііstorіїVіyni. Add a photo of a family member whose story you share to your text. If possible, in one of the lower corners of the photo, superimpose the poppy image from memory, you can download it from the link, ”explained the UINP.

The Institute of National Remembrance noted that the publications for the action may be in a different format, the presentation of material – from brief information to detailed documents, based on family and / or memories of witnesses eyepieces until the war. The main thing is participation and the desire to pay tribute to individuals, to honor their memory and to complement their stories with the general history of the tragic events of the Second World War.
