Irina Rodnina strongly replied to her former trainer Tatyana Tarasova with criticisms: “Tarasova has had something with its brains for a long time”

Long-standing conflict erupted in the pages of the Russian media with renewed vigor between 73-year-old honored coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova and 70-year-old triple figure skating champion and member of United Russia Irina Rodnina. In a recent interview with RBC, Tarasova answered a question about her disagreements with Rodnina, who in turn commented heavily on the words of her former Sport24 coach.

Under the direction of Tarasova, Irina Rodnina and Alexander Zaitsev have twice won the Olympic Games. At the same time, the difficult relationship between the athlete and the coach can be judged by a number of comments they have given themselves in the media. In an interview with RBC, Tarasova spoke, including the story with choreographer Elena Cherkasskaya, who left her on the Rodnina team.

Tatyana Tarasova

Lena Cherkasskaya, I usually spent the next world. I was the first to see that she was sick. I didn’t swear at all with Lena, I absolutely didn’t need her as a choreographer. She worked with Rodnina, saw nothing around. Cherkasskaya had fourth degree cancer, she couldn’t even drink water, and Rodnina sent her to participate in a competition in Australia, said Tatyana Tarasova.

After the publication of this interview, Irina Rodnina strongly commented on Tarasova’s words in another media.

I would advise Tatyana Anatolyevna to strike a bit in history. If there is this moment, then it is 1981. And Cherkasskaya died of cancer in 2000 (Elena Cherkasskaya died on November 12, 2001. – Approx. Ed.). Do these words hurt me? It is not my job to comment on Tarasova’s words. Something needs to be discussed. God will judge her, long ago something flew out of Tarasova’s brain. And it’s dirty to talk about a person who is no longer there, Rodnina told Sport24.
