It’s not the ventilators that save coronavirus, but timely treatment and quarantine – Ministry of Health

Deputy Minister of Health Irina Mikitchak said coronavirus patients are saved thanks to quick access to doctors and quarantine, rather than mechanical ventilation machines.
She said this during a briefing at the Zhytomyr regional children’s hospital, reports a correspondent for Ukrinform.
“It is not the artificial ventilation device that saves us, but the rapid treatment and quarantine measures that prevent patients from entering the hospital. The problem was related to artificial ventilation because patients admitted to hospitals did not need 2 to 5 to 10 days of treatment, like average patients with other illnesses in intensive care units, but 3 at 4 weeks, and there is no fleet of equipment of this type ”. – noted Mikhaka.
According to her, hospitals do not have as many mechanical ventilation devices as all patients. Therefore, all areas should rely on equipment for patients who may need intensive care.

At the same time, Mikitchak noted that after the COVID-19 pandemic ends, some of the hospital ventilators will simply not be used, as there will be none.
As noted, at the end of May, Minister of Health Maxim Stepanov said that Ukraine will purchase several hundred expert-grade ventilators and mobile X-rays with funds from the European Investment Bank.
