The Swiss Federal Court confirmed the previous decision of the Federal Administrative Court, according to which the funds and assets of the oligarch Yury Ivanyushchenko were frozen by the Swiss government after the fall of the regime of Viktor Yanukovych in February 2014.
This is reported by SWI.
According to the Federal Court’s decision, the assets of former Ukrainian MP Yury Ivanyushchenko will remain frozen in Switzerland.
On December 13, 2019, the Swiss government decided to extend the freezing of the assets of Yanukovych and his entourage for a period of approximately 70 million Swiss francs (72 million dollars) in the framework of cooperation between Swiss judicial authorities and Ukrainian.
The assets will remain frozen in accordance with the provisions of the Swiss law on freezing and restitution of assets illegally obtained from foreign political figures, which entered into force in 2016.
The federal court said that Ivanyushchenko’s assets would remain frozen due to the opening of criminal proceedings in Switzerland and Ukraine against him.

As noted, a criminal case was opened in 2013 for suspected theft of tens of millions of dollars received by Ukraine from the sale of allowances under the Kyoto Protocol. They suspect that companies controlled by Yury Ivanyushchenko’s wife have received an open call for tenders to heat schools and other social infrastructure for “Kyoto” funds. Law enforcement officials suspect that the funds were transferred to Switzerland and, for the most part, the work has not been completed.
Now, suspected of laundering these funds in Switzerland, 72 million francs are blocked in the accounts of Ivanyushchenko’s wife, Irina, as well as in a business center worth around 20 million, which belongs to half to Ivanyushchenko.
