During the coronavirus pandemic, video calls became almost the primary means of communication for people, and the British royal family was no exception.
For example, Prince William and Kate Middleton have already talked to schoolchildren. Yesterday, the Duchess of Cambridge surprised the young parents of one of the maternity hospitals in London. Kate contacted the couple via video and congratulated them on the birth of a child.
Nice to meet you! He is probably the first born! First of all, congratulations! Is it a boy or a girl?
– asked Middleton with a smile.
Upon learning that the couple had a son, Kate added:
He’s so cute! Congratulations!
But this video did not end, because the objective of the Duchess of Cambridge was not only to give a pleasant surprise to young parents, but also to discuss important subjects related to childbirth and motherhood, because the video itself was scheduled to coincide with Mental Health Week.
It will be held in the UK from May 4 to 11 and its goal is to raise awareness of the psychological issues women face during and after pregnancy.
Kate therefore discussed with midwives, health professionals and leading experts on the issues and the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on young mothers and pregnant women.
Middleton asked which aspects were of concern, and one worker replied that not only fear of infection, but also self-isolation and social distance, when many women could not see their relatives and friends the days before the birth of a child or the first time after delivery.
It increases anxiety because we all know how important family relationships and support are during this time,
– explained the woman.
Kate also asked hospital staff about their well-being and how they are managing the load during this difficult time, and thanked them for the work they were doing.
Recall that the royal family also celebrated yesterday the fifth birthday of Princess Charlotte. On her daughter’s birthday, Kate showed off her new photos. The photos show how the girl is helping her parents in another charity initiative – providing food for single elderly people.
