Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said the issue of prisoner swap, on which a preliminary agreement had been reached, was a priority for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the main focus of the government.
Kuleba said this during a direct inclusion organized by the American analysis center Atlantic Council, reports the correspondent for Ukrinform.
“For us, the liberation of our people, exchange is the top priority,” said the minister.
He stressed that the issue “remains at the center of the government’s attention”, recalling that agreements on the exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and the Russian Federation had been concluded on April 8.

“We aim to congratulate our people at home before the Christmas holidays according to the Orthodox calendar, that is to say next week,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Kuleba also said: “We know the number (of people who will be exchanged – note) on both sides”.
At the same time, he indicated that he would refrain from any more detailed comments so as not to jeopardize the agreements reached.

The minister expressed the hope that the conclusion of an agreement on an exchange plan would also create conditions for “unblocking other questions on the agenda”.
As Ukrinform reported, at regular meetings of the Tripartite Contact Group in the form of videoconferences on April 6 and 8, the parties reached agreement in principle on the next step in the exchange of detained persons in the near future .
