Lyashko: Infectious disease department not ready for COVID-19 pandemic
Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Health, Chief State Health Officer, Viktor Lyashko, explained why Ukrainian doctors represent such a high percentage of all patients with COVID-19.
He said so in an interview with Radio Liberty.
“Ukraine is not a single country. The number of infections among medical personnel is high in different countries. We have 20% – yes, this is an important indicator,” said Lyashko.
According to him, the questions of fight against infections, that is to say the prevention of the nosocomial spread of infectious diseases (whatever: drip group, airborne droplets, contact), in our country, few attention has been paid.

“Therefore, when we talk about why there are so many – because in the built health system itself, when we say that the patient routes were not developed, there was no zoning, clear areas where it is dangerous, where it is safe, clean areas, exits boxes and events in the residence, how all this should happen, where disinfection should be carried out – all this was that in the educational process, but in practice, the infectious disease department was not ready, “said the chief medical officer of health.
