Maidan case: two former Berkut residents suspected of falsifying evidence
Suspected suspicion against two former special forces employees “Royal Eagle” of the main directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the Dnipropetrovsk region for falsifying evidence against a participant of “Euromaidan”.

“Under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Prosecutor’s Office, investigators from the National Investigation Office reported suspicions of two former Berkut special forces employees of the Main Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs in the region of Dnipropetrovsk to falsify evidence against the Euromaidan participant, “said the statement.
It is noted that the suspect is accused of unlawfully obstructing assembly, rallies, processions and street demonstrations by an official, as well as knowingly providing false testimony of a witness, combined with artificial creation of evidence an accusation of having committed a particularly serious crime (article 340, part 2 of the article). 384 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

As established by the investigation, on January 21, 2014 in the street. Grushevsky in Kiev, employees of Berkut’s special forces arrested a citizen who allegedly participated in mass riots in accordance with art. 208 Code of Criminal Procedure of Ukraine. Subsequently, he was taken to one of the metropolitan regional police services. The next day, police from Berkut told the investigator that the detainee was actively involved in the riots with the destruction of property. Based on these false testimonies, the detainee was informed of suspicions under Part 2 of Art. 294 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and the court elected a preventive measure in the form of detention.
