Malyushka wants to make a pre-trial detention center outside the cities and give the ground to investors
The Ministry of Justice plans to abolish pre-trial detention centers located outside cities and to rent plots of land under them to private investors.
Justice Minister Denis Malyuka said this in an interview with hromadske.
According to him, in this way, the state will save money to improve the infrastructure of the prison system.
“Pre-trial detention centers are concentrated in the city center. As a result, the cost of renting land is high. We are currently developing documents in order to transfer them out of the cities in exchange for the construction of normal normal structures. We will donate plots of land in the city center to private investors, ”said Malyuska.
According to him, the pay cameras previously introduced in the coming months should work in all pretrial detention centers, which will also bring additional funds.

“Now four cameras are open in Kiev – double, triple and quadruple. The plans – we’re going to increase them, look at the price. And again, if we compare the remand center and the institutions where people arrive after sentencing, the situation is completely different. In pre-trial detention centers, everything is much worse. Although in reality they are innocent in pre-trial detention centers and those who have been convicted are in prison. We will change that, “said the Minister.
Malyushka added that the main objective of prison reform is the re-socialization of former detainees.
