More than eight billion promised for the purchase of drugs in the budget – Ministry of Health
The state budget of Ukraine provides 8 072 billion for the purchase of medicines for patients with serious illnesses.
This was announced during a briefing on May 2 by Minister of Health Maxim Stepanov, reports a correspondent for Ukrinform.
“The total amount that is determined in the state budget of Ukraine for the purchase of drugs at the central level, at the expense of the state, amounts to almost 8 billion 72 million. This amount, depending on the programs, will be shared between international organizations and the GP “Medical Procurement”, said Stepanov.

He clarified that we are talking about the purchase of drugs for the treatment of orphan diseases of viral hepatitis, tuberculosis, testing systems for donation and the like.
Stepanov said earlier that the Ministry of Health is negotiating with international organizations through which Ukraine purchases drugs for patients with cancer, HIV, AIDS, hepatitis, hemophilia and others diseases to modify the conditions of purchase.
As previously reported, former Minister of Health Ulyana Suprun noted that purchases of drugs and medical devices as part of the budget programs were under threat.
At the same time, the Ministry of Health announced the debt of international purchasing organizations for the supply of drugs in the amount of 5.3 billion UAH.
