Naev held videoconference with Ukrainian peacekeepers in Congo
The Commander of the Joint Armed Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Sergey Nayev, congratulated the Command officers who participated in peacekeeping operations, representing Ukraine, and held a videoconference with the personnel of the 18th helicopter detachment separate from the United Nations Stabilization Organization in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

“The current participation of the Ukrainian armed forces in peace and security operations contributes to the growth of international authority in our homeland and confirms Ukraine as an influential subject in the European and world security system,” said Nayev during the videoconference.
He expressed his sincere gratitude to the staff of the helicopter detachment for the conscientious and high-quality performance of the peacekeeping duties.
During the festivities, the officers present received diplomas from the Joint Armed Forces Command of the Armed Forces and precious gifts.
The United Nations International Peacekeepers Day in Ukraine was established by decree of the President of Ukraine “on the occasion of International Peacekeepers Day” dated April 30, 2003.
Ukrainian peacekeepers have participated in international missions since 1992. During this period, more than 44,000 Ukrainian soldiers participated, 54 of whom died.

Today, 284 soldiers from the Ukrainian Armed Forces are participating in 6 international peacekeeping and security operations led by the United Nations. These are the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the United Nations Mission in Kosovo, the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus, the Force United Nations Security Interim Officer in Abyei, the United Nations Multidisciplinary Stabilization Mission in Mali and the United Nations Mission in the Republic of South Sudan.
