“The Chernobyl nuclear disaster that occurred 34 years ago still reminds us of the danger posed by the use of nuclear energy. Our position remains unchanged: we oppose nuclear energy,” says the report. .

As you know, on the night of April 26, 1986, a powerful chemical explosion occurred in the fourth plant of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, destroying part of the reactor block and the engine room.
According to the international scale of nuclear events (INES), this accident was classified according to the seventh highest level of danger.
From the outset, the leadership of the USSR concealed the fact of the accident. The first official announcement on this subject did not appear until April 28.

In the first days after the accident, the population of the 10 km area was evacuated, in the future the evacuation area was extended to 30 km. A total of 2,293 settlements, in which over 2.6 million people lived at the time, were radioactively contaminated in Ukraine. As a result of this disaster, more than 5 million hectares of land have been removed from farming.
