Occupants Double Coronavirus Statistics – Ukraine at the OSCE
The Russian occupation authority reduces statistics on the distribution of coronaviruses by at least 2 to 2.5 times both in certain territories of the Lugansk and Donetsk regions (ARDLO), and in temporarily occupied Crimea.
This was stated by the Deputy Permanent Representative of Ukraine to international organizations in Vienna, Igor Lossovsky, at an online meeting of the OSCE Forum on Security of Cooperation on Wednesday May 6, according to Ukrinform’s own reports.
“Human rights organizations report a low level of general medical care and low coverage of the population with diagnostics to detect coronaviruses in Crimea and Donbas. Russian occupation administrations hide data on the situation regarding the spread of the disease and artificially underestimate it (according to intelligence agencies – at least 2 to 2.5 times) “Official” statistics on detected cases of COVID- 19 “, he said.

The Ukrainian diplomat noted that in just one week from March 17 to 24, nine patients diagnosed with pneumonia died at the No. 7 Hospital in Lugansk.
“According to our information, they all had characteristic symptoms of COVID-19, but doctors were not allowed to state these facts in medical reports,” said Lossovsky.
At the same time, he added, international organizations and other independent sources are unable to verify information from the Russian occupation authorities regarding the spread of coronavirus disease in Crimea and the Donbass. .
The representative of Ukraine stressed that the Russian occupation administrations have long denied information on the deaths due to COVID-19 (until April 22 on ORDLO, and until recently in temporarily occupied Crimea and Sevastopol). According to him, official statistics of the invaders affirm that as of May 5, 219 cases of COVID-19 had been registered in Crimea, of which 3 fatal cases, 162 cases were found in the occupied territories of the Lugansk region (1 person is deceased), 133 others – in the occupied territories. Donetsk region (three infected people died).
“In the temporarily occupied territories, there is also a shortage of medical personnel (and the prevalence of the disease among doctors is high), medical substances, personal protective equipment, disinfectants and tests, which makes almost impossible to understand the real situation, “said the Deputy Head of the Ukrainian Mission to the OSCE.

According to him, one of the main sources of the spread of the coronavirus is people traveling to / from Moscow, regular flights and road transport, which still take place from the territory of the Russian Federation to the Crimea. Also in April, organized bus trips from occupied Donetsk and Lugansk to Russian territory reportedly obtained Russian passports. In addition, the presence of Russian troops deployed in the occupied territories in turn is an additional factor in the spread of COVID-19.
“In the context of the spread of acute respiratory diseases, COVID-19 of the Russian Federation is not taking sufficient measures, like the occupying state, in accordance with international humanitarian law, to ensure the protection of life and health of the population of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, “said the Ukrainian diplomat at a meeting of the OSCE Forum on Security Co-operation.
