One of the strongest Ukrainian athletes quarantined in Kenya until July

Olga Lyakhovaya

Double champion of the European Games-2019 and repeatedly winner of the European Championships, specializing in the 800 meters, Olga Lyakhova is struggling to return to her country of origin – the Ukrainian is in Kenya.

Since March 7, our talented compatriot has been in training camps in this East African country, but once they have finished, she cannot leave Kenya after the announcement of the implementation quarantine and closing of borders.

Olga was looking for ways to get home. And she had a great option – to fly to Ukraine on May 31, but again, everything went wrong. As the athlete said on his Instagram page, his flight has been canceled and the closest date is currently June 30.

“Life in Kenya continues and it already seems to me that this is my home. My ticket for May 31 was canceled, and now the first flight available on June 30. I told myself that if I came home on June 30, it would take 115 days. And it’s my absolute record to be at training camp! By the way, they can also extend quarantine. This date can therefore change… ”, wrote the athlete.

At the same time, the Ukrainian does not lose her sense of humor and joked that it was time for her to accept Kenyan citizenship because she spends too much time there.

“Yes, by the way, I was also in Kenya in December. And this is done 145 days a year. Interesting statistics. Does this mean that I spend more time in Kenya than at home? Maybe it’s already time to get citizenship? Lyakhova asks a rhetorical question. See this Instagram post
