Out of 26,000 beds ready to receive patients, 3,000 are occupied – Lyashko
Of the 26,000 beds in Ukrainian hospitals that can accommodate patients infected with a coronavirus, 3,000 are occupied.
This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Health, the chief medical officer of health Viktor Lyashko on the program “Freedom of expression of Savik Shuster” on the channel “Ukraine”, reports the correspondent for Ukrinform.
“There is no illusion that a healthcare system can be prepared for an epidemic in a month, two, three. We can only prepare the reprofiling of the beds, but it is not a will and a guaranteed response. There are now 26,000 beds ready to accept coronavirus patients. And 2,500 mechanical ventilation devices. 3,000 thousand beds are occupied and about 60 people are on mechanical ventilation devices. , we have 10% of the bed capacity that is ready to accept coronavirus patients, “said Lyashko.

He said that now the most infected with the coronavirus are in the Chernivtsi region. Therefore, this is where the biggest workload of the beds. According to the chief doctor, a new institution has been prepared there, where there are 72 beds for patients infected with a coronavirus.
As reported, by the morning of May 8 in Ukraine, 14,195 cases of COVID-19 had been laboratory confirmed, of which 361 were fatal, 2,706 patients have recovered. During the day, 504 new cases were recorded.
