Police still investigate disappearance of valuables from Kiev Pechersk Lavra
Law enforcement officials continue to search for possible misappropriation of valuables that have been deposited with officials at Kiev’s Pechersk Lavra.
This is indicated in the response of the investigative service of the General Directorate of the National Police of Kiev to the request for information from Ukrinform.
“Based on the facts set out in the request, an audit is underway, the results of which will be announced at a later date,” said the police.
As reported, in January 2019, the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine declared that, according to the results of the inspection of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, the commission did not find 10 objects in the main funds and scientists and auxiliaries of the Kiev-Pechersk historical and cultural reserve.

In February 2019, the SBU reported that, according to the SBU, the investigative service of the national police had registered criminal proceedings under part 3 of article 191 of the Criminal Code (appropriation, embezzlement of property or seizure thereof by abuse of official position) during the embezzlement of valuables that have been deposited with officials of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra.
