Priests Should Not Be Afraid Of Technology: Bartholomew Gave Churches Advice

Priests, like believers, should not be afraid to use the latest technology for their needs during a pandemic, especially for broadcasting services.

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew said so in an interview with Ukrinform, responding to the question of the “transition” of the online church due to quarantine measures.

“One of the positive results of this common challenge is that we must now approach relationships with each other in a conscious and creative way. Distance interaction, which takes place using various means of modern technology, allows us not only to support each other in a goal of comfort and salvation, but also to contribute to our dreams and our programs on the way to cooperation and progress, ”said the Ecumenical Patriarch.

He noted that for his part, he encouraged awareness of new ways in which churches are guided.

“Ultimately, we are a living tradition and the Body of Christ is an organic and living community. We must always be careful, but in no case be afraid of using technologies that should be used as a means for the benefit of God’s people, ”added Bartholomew.

He also spoke positively about initiatives that enable churches to fulfill their vocation in a global pandemic.

The Ecumenical Patriarchate broadcasts during Holy Week and will post Phanar’s Easter service on its Facebook page.
