The coronavirus pandemic has dealt a major blow to the world economy and, in various countries, they are currently working on anti-crisis measures and targeted assistance to the population. The head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, offered perhaps the most original payments – he decided to support not the students or the businessmen, but … married!
Kadyrov asked to allocate money to buy 207 wives for the newlyweds who have no funds due to the consequences of quarantine. This was reported in RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of the spiritual administration of Muslims in the republic. Families of newlyweds in need will each receive 50,000 rubles.
Money can be spent on the rite of marriage according to the Muslim canons. The ritual provides for the payment of a certain amount of money for the bride – the Urdu, established by the clergy. The money is then returned to the bride. Payment funds will come from the Akhmat-Hadji Kadyrov Fund.
However, due to the coronavirus, the performances of traditional ceremonies in the republic are still limited. Thus, only two cars can go for the bride, and only close relatives can be among the guests of the celebration. A provisional ban on canonical Islamic marriages in Chechnya was lifted on May 25.
Remember that since the COVID-19 epidemic in Chechnya, 1365 cases have been reported. 15 people infected with a coronavirus died, 993 – recovered. Earlier reports had appeared in the press that Kadyrov himself had also been infected with the virus, but denied the information.
