Reinforcement of social guarantees for children under guardianship and single retirees aged 80 and over: Zelensky signed the law

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed the law “amending certain Ukrainian laws on strengthening social guarantees for certain categories of people”, which the Verkhovna Rada adopted on June 2.
This was reported by the press service of the head of state.
The document aims to increase social guarantees for children under guardianship or guardianship, in particular for children with disabilities, people over 80 years of age and in need of constant care.
The law provides for an increase in the amount of aid for children for whom guardianship or guardianship established in accordance with the law on State assistance to families with children is established, from two to two and a half years of decent salary for a child of an appropriate age and for disabled children up to three and a half years of living wage for a child of the corresponding age.
When determining the right to allocate child benefits to single mothers, the conditions established for the appointment of state social assistance to low-income families in the manner approved by the Cabinet of Ministers apply.
The document also makes changes to the law “On State Social Assistance for Low-Income Families” and establishes assistance for low-income families, which is provided in the form of repayable interest-free financial assistance to a valid person who does not work, among the members of such a family to organize an entrepreneurial activity and to lift the family out of poverty.
The law gives a new definition of the average monthly total family income used to determine the amount of benefits in accordance with Ukrainian laws “On state aid to families with children”, “On state social assistance to families low income ”.
It is also expected that the appointment procedure, the conditions of payment and the reasons for stopping payment of state social assistance, the list of documents required for the appointment of assistance to low-income families and to disabled people from childhood and disabled children, will be established by the Cabinet of Ministers.
The law widens the circle of people who need additional help to find a job. This list is completed by able-bodied persons who are not active among members of low-income families who receive state social assistance for low-income families.

In addition, according to the document, the right is granted to allocate state social assistance to the care of single people who have reached 80 years of age and who, according to the conclusion of the medical advisory committee, require constant care. State social assistance for the care of these people will be allocated up to 40% of the subsistence minimum for people who have lost their working capacity, at the expense of the state budget.
As indicated, Law “No. 2494” amending certain laws of Ukraine on strengthening the social security of certain categories of people “, adopted by Parliament on June 2, was adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers.
