As reported by Ukrinform, following the mutual release on April 16, 20 Ukrainian citizens returned to the territory of the ORLDO returned to the territory controlled by Ukraine. In particular, 9 Ukrainians were detained by activists in the occupied territories of the Donetsk region for a long time, and 11 by Lugansk.
Among them, two Ukrainian soldiers. The exchange was made at the Mayorskoye checkpoint in the Donetsk region and in the city of happiness district in the Luhansk region. At the same time, 14 citizens left for the occupied territories.
The mutual release of the detainees took place in the “all for all” format. For the first time, the exchange took place according to the formula, when Ukraine removed more people than it transferred.
Following the exchange of detainees on Thursday, April 16, a total of 38 people were released, 34 of them were transferred, 4 – refused to transfer to ORDLO.
Upon their return, our citizens will undergo observation and verification procedures. This is the third exchange in the past seven months. The last mutual release of people took place in December 2019, when 76 Ukrainians returned home.
The office of the President of Ukraine said that negotiations were underway on the release of those detained in occupied Crimea and Russia.
