Russia is making every effort to reduce the importance of the union of the People’s Republic of Ukraine and the Second Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in the 1920 war against the Bolsheviks and to confuse the Ukrainians and Poles.

This opinion was expressed in an interview with Ukrinform by the Polish historian, Professor Miroslav Shumilo.

“These actions are more like a kind of organized action. I think rather that it is the intention to reduce the role of the army of the UPR and the union of Pilsudski-Petlyura in order to quarrel with the Poles and the Ukrainians, putting the Ukrainian issue in the background, “said Shumilo.

He gave a new example of the publication on the official page of the Polish National Memory Institute in Facebok of information on the translation into Polish of a book by the Ukrainian historian Rukkas “Together with the Polish army On joint actions against the Bolsheviks in 1920. According to him, in the comments under this post, there immediately appeared a hat wave, from various posts that there has never been a single Polish-Ukrainian union, c ‘is a kind of nonsense, and the Ukrainians and the Poles were constantly in hostility with each other.

“We started checking all of these messages, and it turned out that many of them were made from fake accounts and it was an organized action of Russian trolls,” said Shumilo.

He called “propaganda” the appearance of Russians’ claims that the role of the Pilsudski-Petliura union in the Polish-Bolshevik war was exaggerated, and the “white” Russians fought the Bolsheviks even more actively than the Ukrainians .

“The participation of the” whites “in the war with the Bolsheviks, compared to the Ukrainian army, was insignificant,” said the Polish historian.
