Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus receive May security patches


Despite the recent shift to quarterly updates, Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus strike a new blow to the tail: for several hours, now the iconic peak of the range at the beginning of 2017, it began to receive an update with the latest innovations from the inside. Security patches for Android released in early May.

Firmware version in question G95xFXXS9DTEA and, at least for now, brand-free models are affected in Germany and the UK. However, as usual, the update will also affect units in circulation in Italy no later than a few days later.

May fixes also came with fixes that Samsung officially unveiled in May: a fix for vulnerability EVS-2020-16747. On the other hand, there is no mention of one, no less important, regarding the vulnerability detected in the Bluetooth connection, which makes it relatively easy for attackers to capture personal data: we will see if there will be any feedback in the coming hours.

The update will be available through OTA, but you can still check “Software Updates – Download and Install” in the system settings if it is already available for download.
