The prosecutor of the specialized anti-corruption prosecutor’s office asks a former infrastructure minister Vladimir Omelyan to elect a preventive measure in the form of a personal obligation.

The corresponding petition has been made public by the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court, where a meeting has started on the election of a preventive measure to a former civil servant, reports a correspondent from Ukrinform.

“Omelyan has been informed of the suspicion. In this regard, we ask the court to take a preventive measure in the form of a personal obligation,” said the prosecutor.

As reported by Ukrinform, on June 19, 2020, the former Minister of Infrastructure, Vladimir Omelyan, was informed of suspicions of illegal actions, as a result of which the state budget did not receive 30.5 million UAH. According to the NABU, in December 2017, the former minister issued an order to reduce by 20% all port fees (except lighthouses) despite the fact that one of these fees – administrative – is the revenue part of the state budget, so that only the parliament could change its size. On June 23, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau published certain documents in the context of the production, in which Omelyan appears, in connection with the ordinance on port charges.

In addition, in November 2018, NABU announced the closing of a preliminary investigation against Omelyan into the facts of a possible illegal enrichment and the declaration of false information.

The Kiev Solomensky District Court closed the criminal proceedings against Omelyan in April concerning the illegal enrichment, but decided to designate the minister for having declared inaccurate information on two episodes.

In particular, Omelyan is accused of having submitted statements for 2015 and 2016, deliberately indicating information that differs from reliable information for more than 3 million hryvnias and 8 million hryvnias, respectively.

Now, this production compared to Omelyan is in the WAKS.
